WHO WE ARE

We are people who want to make a difference.

Children of Lake Atitlan is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  Its sole purpose is to support education and development in Guatemala, specifically in the area of San Juan La Laguna.  Donations are tax-deductible.

The program was begun in 2004, and has faithfully served this community since then.  It has contributed over a half million dollars to the community during that time.  Currently, students at the school come not only from San Juan La Laguna, but from surrounding communities.

All board members serve the program as volunteers.  Because of this, well over 90% of donations that are received go to the support of education in the community.

Our teachers are dedicated to teaching.

WHAT WE DO

We support education!

No more...no less.

We are interested in assisting communities to develop into strong and healthy places through education.

The programs that are supported by the Children of Lake Atitlan are run by Guatemalans.

The NEW DAWNING CHRISTIAN SCHOOL has been in the community since 1991.  It currently serves over 200 children from pre-school through middle school.  the administrators and teachers are all from San Juan La Laguna and surrounding communities.

The INSPIRATION GUATEMALA program is in the formative stages.  Its goal is to provide tutoring for students, as well as vocational training for youth and adults.  Its coordinator, as well as those leading its classes, are local, although the program welcomes volunteers who may want to teach classes such as English.

Funds received through the Children of Lake Atitlan are used to support the following:

          Teacher salaries

          Scholarships

          Professional development

          Purchase of educational supplies

          Cultural activities
